Tuition and Fees Tuition at public 2-year institutions increased 33% (from $1,472 to $1,957). Tuition at public 4-year institutions increased 37% (from $2,722 to $3,718). Tuition at private 4-year institutions increased 28% (from $12,890 to $16,545). Income Median family income increased 13% (from $56,871 to $64,278). Appropriations Appropriations per student increased 18% (from $5,209 to $6,144). Student Financial Aid State grant aid per student increased 65% (from $257 to $423). State spending on aid to low-income students equals 47% of total federal Pell Grant awards.
